Elected members of the Board of Directors
A native of Kaélé, in the Far North Region, the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of Inades-Formation Cameroun studied at theUniversity of Yaoundé , where she obtained a degree in French-speaking private law. A few years later, she earned a Master’s degree in Project Development and Management at the Catholic University of Central Africa, before moving on to theUniversity of Antwerp where she will complete a training course specializing in the Gender and Development Approach to project management, financed by the Belgian Ministry of Cooperation. This will be followed by other training courses, including further training in English and participation in the International Human Rights Training Program organized and financed by Equitas in Montreal, Canada.
After a glowing academic career, she launched herself into the professional world. She began her career at Inades-Formation Cameroun on June 1, 1994, and spent eleven consecutive years there, alternating between the positions of trainer in Maroua and Branch Delegate in Bamenda.
In 1998, she founded the NGO Aldepa (Action Locale pour un Développement Participatif et Autogéré) in Maroua to combat illiteracy among young girls, early marriage and sexual abuse of women.
In November 2021, the activist for peace and gender equality was awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize (Right Livelihood Award 2021), for developing an innovative community-based system for protecting children and combating gender-based violence in a context of terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin, and for its commitment to peace.
On June 14 of the same year, she was made a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur de France, by decree of the French President.
Her most recent distinction came on May 20, 2024, when she was made a Knight of the Cameroonian Order of Merit.
His career at Inades-Formation Cameroun
Ms. WANDOU Marthe began her career at the Inades-Formation Maroua branch on June1, 1994, as a trainer for grassroots organizations and development agents. She spent 7 wonderful years in this position.
On the strength of her work, she was promoted to Bamenda Branch Delegate in May 2002, a position she held until June 2005.
In 1998, she became an associate member of Inades-Formation Cameroun. Eight years later, she was elected to the Board of Directors. His term of office ends in 2009.
From 2009 to 2012, she ran for her first term as Vice-Chairwoman of the Board, and a second from 2012 to 2015.
In 2000, she joined the Inades-Formation network as an International Associate Member.
From 2013 to 2016, she was an alternate on the Board of Directors of Inades-Formation International (IFI).
In 2018, as a member of the Board of Directors, Marthe WANDOU represented Cameroon twice in a row at the International General Assembly of Inades-Formation.
From 2021 to the present day, the women’s rights activist has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Inades-Formation Cameroun.
